Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, is a vibrant city attracting migrants from the entire country and its neighbouring Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos. Vulnerable families as well as children on their own travel to Bangkok hoping for a better future. Arriving unprepared in the city, they are exploited, trafficked or end up living in the streets.

Full Description

Friends International set up the Peuan Peuan program in 2007 to protect those children and youth. Peuan Peuan works in the streets of Bangkok, in squatter communities, in Government Rehabilitation Centres and Detention Centres.

In 2010, 600 children staying in Government centres accessed non-formal education, 200 street children were supported who were living or working on the streets. Over 100 children were supported in their repatriation to Cambodia and Laos. A ChildSafe network of 300 local volunteers is protecting children in their communities.
