East Timor suffered a violent occupation by Indonesia for 24 years. East Timorese voted for independence in 1999 in a referendum supervised by The UN. UN peace keepers took two weeks to arrive in East Timor after the referendum during which the Indonesian military and Timorese militia systematically destroyed the already under the developed country. Moris rasik is one of several Micro-Credit Programs set up to help this economy devastation.
