Full Description

Lukautim Bus (Save Our Forest) is a short film about the struggle of the Papua New Guineans from Lake Murray, Western Province against illegal logging.  The community there have become one of the first communities to work towards a model of eco-forestry to become self sufficient and supporting rather than becoming prey to the corruption of the illegal logging companies who come to such areas rich with resources only to plunder the forests and the people.

The community at Lake Murray sought out local and international NGO's to help them against illegal logging giants coming into their area and dividing the communities with fraud and deception as well as laying claim to their traditional land.  Through undertaking a clear model of ecoforestry where they legally lay claim to their land and use a sustainable business model to support themselves.  This means logging one tree once a month with the least amount of damage to the environment and shipping direct with the help of local and international NGO's.

This not only benefits the community by training them in becoming self sufficient but enables them to build schools, hospitals and run the community in a fair manner that supports them better than the large multi-national logging companies whose only aim is financial benefit.

This film follows one communities journey.
