FOSS gathering @ Nu-Substance Festival 2010
At the FOSS section of CommonRoom's Nu-Substance Festival 2010 - a festival that encourages the practice critical reflection on media technology, contemporary culture and urban ecology - Monty Aji was invited to demonstrate the power of FOSS in graphic design world.
Monty Aji said that it was not an easy thing to change his habit from Mac PS and Windows to Linux. It took him six months to really learn to use his Ubuntu and graphic design software.
It was amazing to see the results that Monty Aji made possible. The demo was so surprising that the audience just looked on stunned as they observed the process of Aji creating these cartoon characters.
With 'gathering' as a title, the audiences was not as might be expected. But the new possibilities offered by Monty Aji have the possibility to change Bandung graphic designers' way of thinking. I can not agree more with what Monty Aji said, 'This is all about how to change your behavior'.
