Women groups in Jayapura, the capital of Papua, celebrated the International Women's Day by marching on the street showing their support for the fight against gender-based violence and distributing flowers and areca nuts.
Memperingati hari Perempuan Internasional 8 Maret 2018, kelompok perempuan di Jayapura melakukan aksi berupa orasi dan bagi-bagi bunga dan pinang kepada pengguna Jalan di Lingkaran Abepura, Jayapura. Dalam aksinya, perempuan menyampaikan pesan-pesan penghapusan kekerasan dan diskrimasi terhadap perempuan.
On Thursday, 8th of March 2018, dozens of men and women from different organisations marched in Jayapura, the capital of Indonesian province Papua, to show their support for the fight against gender-based violence on International Women's Day. They distributed paper flowers and areca nuts to people driving around Abepura traffic circle in Jayapura, Papua. The areca nuts were used as a symbol for peace.
