The presentation, delivered as part of a historic La Via Campesina delegation to Australia highlights the crisis experienced in rural areas throughout the Asia Pacific region with an aging farming population, and the necessity of supporting and inspiring a new generation of farmers to take on the essential work of growing sustainable food for the future. Friends of the Earth's Radical Cheerleader Squad took their vision sustainable food and agriculture to the streets of Adelaide as part of the 2008 Adelaide Fringe Festival Opening Night Party. Roving through a crowd of over 40,000 people, the guys and gals shook, shimmied and shouted about the benefits of local, urban food growing and food sovereignty to diners and revellers in Adelaide's East End.
