Indonesian police have made widespread arrests in Papua region as West Papuans prepare to hold demonstrations.
On May 2nd, police had arrested KNPB activists, community workers, students and youth in the crackdown. Police were also reported to have banned journalists covering and taking pictures of the arrests in the capital Jayapura.
The arrests follow a series of marches on 13 April, when thousands of West Papuans demonstrated in support of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua.
