At the European Social Forum in Paris in 2003 a dramatic debate occurred between the co-author of Empire, autonomist theorist Toni Negri, and Alex Callinicos, one of the main theorists for the British Socialist Workers party. The debate was forced outside the small theatre it had been delegated for by the popular protest of around a thousand people. A short documentary exploring Italy's Telestreet phenomena, a network of close to 200 micro pirate TV transmitters that begun in the summer of 2002 to counter the media monopoly of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
