Workshop on open source video libre
The workshop is carried by Constant, a brussels based organisation for arts and media. It will be a week with practical workshops around open source tools and methods for producing free video-content for the web, without the use of proprietory software, codecs, formats. Parallel to these hands-on workshops there will be a series of presentations of collaborative video projects. The presentations will be done in collaboration with some Brussels based organisations, such as: Agency, Plus Tot Te Laat, VOX, Nova cinema, Okno, and others.
We are a group of artists, interested in, and working with open source
software, currently preparing a meeting / workshop week around open
source online video which will take place in the week from 17 to 23
november in Brussels. http://osvideo.constantvzw.org/

In the workshops we would like to touch as many aspects of the whole
process a videomaker goes through when she wants to work with open
source to distribute / difuse video online, from open codex to cms
systems fit for video. A kind of 'demo' of an open source workflow.
As possible workshops, we are thinking of:
- workshop open codex / containers: theora, ogg, matroska, dirac, x264
- workshop bittorent P2P video: video rss feed
- workshop in open content licenses and alternative economical models
for video-production
- workshop cms (spip, plumi, wordpress, active-archives)
- workshop watching no flash webvideo: java, cortado, web tv
