Several days of protests were held against this conference, with the biggest being on the opening day. The Aotearoa Revolutionary Clown Army and friends took on the police and the army, resulting in 21 arrests.

After several hours, they were removed and arrested, and a third activist was also arrested and charged with "communicating with a prisoner". On Friday September 14th they appeared in court, and this is what happened.
