• A movement reaching out to people in various walks of life, it enhances and inspires understanding and appreciation of the natural world and the need for conservation.
• An attempt to change minds, attitudes and policies,
• An initiative galvanizing civil society and promoting a platform provoking the larger public and opinion making process.

Conceived in 2002, India's only biennial Competitive and Travelling film festival - CMS VATAVARAN, is a visionary initiative of CMS.

By using film screenings and various parallel events the festival provides a platform to create awareness around the local environmental problems, looks at possible solutions, builds opinion and inspires people to push for change. Over the years the festival has grown in prestige, stature, reach, association and patronage (from 100 film entries and five awards worth four lakhs in 2002 to 244 entries and ten awards worth eleven lakhs in 2005). Today CMS VATAVARAN is the most prestigious, one of its own kind influential national event for the environment and filmmakers fraternity and all those who are concern about it.
