Sex Wars: The Musical or... Which Side Story. In the 1980s and 90s, lesbian communities grappled with a whole heap of arguments around sex and power. What is feminist sex? Does pornography cause rape? And what about consensual violence, where did that fit in? As sex-positive lesbians faced off against radical feminists and anti-pornography activists things got vicious and new lines were drawn: which side are you on? This is a clip of a workshop attendee singing "Nancy" her composition and impromptu performance for the "Sex Wars - The Musical" workshop at Cloud City in Melbourne for Camp Betty, a weekend of radical sex and politics. Nike Protest Jakarta

On 23rd July 2007 thousands of people came out in Jakarta to protest Nike's decision to cancel shoe manufacture contracts in two factories in Indonesia. Around 115,000 workers are employed by sub-contractors to Nike to produce shoes in Indonesia. When Nike cancels these contracts workers are left without severance pay. Protestors held anti-Nike placards but the protest had a peaceful vibe. This video was shot on mobile phone as protestors headed towards the main demonstration at the Jakarta Stock Exchange. From the OK.VIDEO Militia Jakarta International Video Festival 2007. This video was produced during the OK.VIDEO workshop in Semarang, held at the Yaitu Art House, involving two other communities: Videot and Kronik Film. Yaitu Art House is a contemporary art gallery, Videot community is a group of art students form the State University of Semarang, and Kronik Film is the Students' Activity Unit of the Diponegoro University. Eighteen participants took part in the workshop; most of them were students or artists. 'Rob' is an experimental video work combining reality, history, and the city in a distinct way. Read more…

A brief clip showing brave young protestors laying themselves on the line (literally - the train line), as part of a series of peaceful direct action blocking the coal trains in Newcastle. Many groups of activists prevented the coal trains from running all day, in one of Australia's biggest displays of direct action against the destructive export of coal which is fueling climate change. NATO was a collective in Manchester who did various subversive and situationist-influenced performances and other artworks, including the March for Capitalism and a spoof tourist guide to Manchester for the Commonwealth Games (2002), directing tourists to the alternative Blitz Festival of international grassroots underground culture, in the form of exhibitions, street theatre, outdoor music, film nights and presentations.
