Full Description
A recent mass global bleaching in March-May 2010 that was suffered by most of coral reefs worldwide including coral reefs in Aceh waters, indicates that coral reefs are very fragile to global warming and climate change impacts. Yayasan Lamjabat (YL-Aceh), one of Jaringan KuALA members, working in Ujong Pancu, Peukan Bada, Aceh Besar for coral reefs conservation from destructive fishing by involving local communities (fishermen & Panglima Laot), local governments, students (ODC-Unsyiah) and marine lectures in Aceh into collaboration work to promote and realize Community-Based Marine Protected Area (MPA) in that area.
