Full description
In the Indian city of Indore, over half the 2 million residents live in slum conditions. With no security of tenure, slum dwellers fall prey to land speculation and forced evictions - violations of their basic human rights.
Now a local organisation, Deenbandhu, is developing innovative ways to work with the urban poor to resist evictions and claim their rightful place in the city - ensuring slum communities are for the first time "on the map".
This film is dedicated to the memory of Rajeev John George (1970-2005), winner of COHRE's 2004 Housing Rights Defender Award.
