China is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and is already Australia s second largest trading
partner.
A Chinese Labour Activist visits Australia to talk with Australian Unionists and FairWear campaigners. Engage is looking for someone to film the Melbourne public meeting.
From the flyer:
But the lack of basic workplace and human rights mean many Chinese people are not sharing thebenefits of economic growth. In Australia workplace rights are also being reduced. Our governments are
negotiating a bilateral free trade agreement that will effect workers in both countries.
Public meetings will be held in Sydney and Melbourne to discuss the impacts of globalisation in China
and Australia without guarantees of labour rights and environmental protections.
Monina Wong , an expert on health and safety and labour rights from Labour Action China, will give a
rare first hand account of working conditions in China s export processing industries.
Featuring:
Monina Wong, Labour Action China
Sophie Peer, Amnesty International (Syd)
Paul Bastian, State Secretary, AMWU (Syd)
Michael Butler, Victorian President, Amnesty International (Melb)
Dave Oliver, National Secretary, AMWU (Melb)

EngageMedia have received a request from Fairwear that the Melbourne public meeting be filmed. We are looking forward to a lively debate about aspects of international labour and western world social justice movements.
We are not expecting for same person to make a film - merely record it. I am happy to do some editing to get the major points and arguments of the debate across.
