The People's Declaration on Climate Change
Developing nations, led by India, are calling on world leaders for an urgent, drastic, legally-binding global approach to climate change to replace the Kyoto Protocol.
The People's Declaration on Climate Change, formulated in Delhi last month, lists 13 principles for the Indian Government to bring to the table at Cop15.
Specifically it demands Annex countries meet their obligations to help developing countries most vulnerable to climate change by agreeing to drastic emission cuts upwards of 80% by 2050 and supportive programs for adaptation and sustainable agriculture.
It urges India to take an ethical stance at the talks and take complete responsibility for its citizens, their livelihoods and futures by limiting its own emissions to "its fair share, as dictated by Mother Earth."
