President Yudhono has proposed a draft of a presidential regulation on the acceleration of development in West Papua, the draft includes promotion of a cluster-based approach to development, and an increased integration of the activities of the central and regional administrations.

Meanwhile there is strong Papuan call for dialogue with Jakarta, continuing human rights abuses are an obstacle to trust between Jakarta and Papuans.

Speaker:

Professor Peter King is a professor from the University of Sydney, who has been doing research about the continuing quest for peace with justice in West Papua and published several books. Prof King will talk and answer questions. He will also be available for media interviews.

The film screened will be “Listen to Our Voice”, stories told by torture-survivors in West Papua and was produced by SKP and WITNES
