One of the measures to prevent the spread of avian influenza is through market re-structuring and keeping live poultry away from the markets. The local Jakarta administration and the UN's Food and Agricultural Organization urge poultry breeders to bring their birds to collection yards instead of bringing the live birds straight to markets and human interaction. One of the collection yards introduced is Rawa Kepiting where live birds are examined by veterinarians before the Halal slaughter.
