Full Description

The Video is a documentation of the society’s fight against the plan to build a cement plant by PT Semen Gresik in Sukolilo Village, Pati regency, Central Java, Indonesia. Mount Kendheng area is an area known to contain “gamping”, one of the basic materials of cement. The majority of people live in the area are farmers and farming workers. The plan to build this cement plant is feared to threaten the sources of local people’s living, either polluting water sources or harming the environment (land, air, and greater potential for natural disaster). At least there are 144,503 farmers who depend on the 1.430 hectare land which will be utilized for the construction of the cement plant.
