Full Description

The struggle of the farmers of Hacienda Luisita is an ongoing saga that has captured the imagination of many Filipinos. Deprived of land ownership due to them since 1967, the farmers continue to assert their rights to land, despite violent repression and renewed tactics by the Cojuangco family—emboldened more than ever by the fact that one of their own is President of the Philippines—to evade land reform.

Land reform is a fundamental demand of the Filipino people. Without it, there can be no genuine societal change, and the system of bondage that exploits millions of farmers remains intact. Without it, development can only be for the benefit of the few that own land and capital.
