Bercerobong is a collaboration between:
Eko Nugroho (Story & drawing), Berbudi (Animation & Sound, Tee (Editing)
Eko Nugroho is a younger member of the artistic and intellectual
community that centres on the vibrant central Java city of Yogyakarta in
Indonesia. He works in diverse media, creating paintings, murals,
videos, handmade zines with collage and drawings, and he also
collaborates with local machinists to produce beautiful embroideries.
Nugroho’s grasp of a range of graphic techniques and technologies is
impressive but also typical of Indonesia’s media-rich and politically
savvy young artists. Indonesians live in a climate that has been
politically charged for decades, but it has also become increasingly
open and dynamic since the democratic reforms of the past decade. His
zine, Daging Tumbuh (literally 'Diseased Tumour'), has been
produced since 2000 with the assistance of a loose collective of
friends, and addresses many topical issues — it is also extremely funny
and personal.
