The OPEN CHANNEL VIDEO SLAM is an instant video production
and rights management workshop! It provides a format for producing
screen content with open licensed assets within the shortest possible
time. In the case of the founding VIDEO SLAM project, up to 48 hours is
all it can take to produce a 10 minute short film from start to finish.
VIDEO SLAM is an exercise in cross-discipline collaboration
focused on the use of flexible licenses for the creation of new works
that are shared within the public domain. These new works are then
available under the same licenses from which the original content was
sourced from.
For VIDEO SLAM 02 two groups of participants created parody pieces using what ever materials they could find. The remaining two teams worked entirely with legally licensed material available for re-use and within the public domain.
VIDEO SLAM 02 was held from 21 - 22 May and screened at the Appropriate Original Remix Forum, Horse Bazaar, for Arts Law Week 2008.
VIDEO SLAM 02 was help by OPEN CHANNEL in association with apc.au, Creative Commons Clinic and Horse Bazaar.
VIDEO SLAM 02 was supported by Film Victoria and 3RRR.
