Environmentalists gathered outside the hotel where Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett was due to address a conference this morning. He was late for the party and escaped quickly after nearly everyone had left, but the reception prepared for him went ahead regardless - just a pity he wasn't there to hear the reminders of his previous incarnation as anti-nuclear and environmental activist ...

I agree that Garret has sold out his ideas for political expediency but then surely he's also the more progressive environment minister Australia has ever had?
