G20 March - peaceful, meaningful.

by Phil Smith last modified 2007-04-15 02:46

A short clip (1:08) of the march down Swanston St. showing the diversity and playfulness of protestors. Ends with a shot of a meditator in front of a line of Police horses. This is the stuff that was ignored by mainstream media along with the violent police attack on yesterday's peaceful G20 demonstration.

Full description

This is the real face of Saturday's march. A collective of diverse groups demonstrating their right to peaceful protest against the lack of transparency of these undemocratic, secretive meetings The atmosphere was light and festive, with at least 3,000 people at it's best. Numbers were sadly lacking due to other events. The hot day, Make Poverty History's 14,000 strong concert the night before, the upcoming union-organised Industrial Relations protest and a 5,000 people picnic in Kings Park drew many moderate supporters from the street crowd. Big ups to footage by PC, Simon, Tash.
