Full Description

In July 2009 Doctor Jose Ramos Horta, President of Timor-Leste, spoke about the issue of Western Sahara at a public meeting organised by the Australia Western Sahara Association in Melbourne, Australia.

Western Sahara is a nation with an undeniable claim for independence, yet the most resource-rich part of its' homeland has been occupied by force by neighbouring Morocco for over thirty years.

Ramos-Horta reflects upon the cause for self-determination for the Saharawi people. His long years in the liberation struggle for Timor-Leste enable him to identify the similar history and predicament of both nations.
