Victorian Premiers broken conservation promises
When the Premier is a liar who can you trust? In 1995 John Brumby was the leader of the Victorian Labor party then in opposition. In this clip from 1995 we see John Brumby speak with passion declaring if elected a Labor government would end all logging in High Conservation Value old-growth forests, end all export wood chipping in Victoria and move the logging industry completely out of old-growth forests and into Plantations. Down by the docks revisited.
Back in 1997 Howard’s 1st step on the road to “Work Choices” was to support Patrick Corporation in its attempt to remove unions representation from Australia’s wharves. That action supported by the Australian Farmers Federation included the training of para-military mercenaries to forcefully take the jobs of unionists. Eventually the actions where defeated by the union in court. Prior to the last election Howard’s team revisited the issue creating an ad with a unique view on history. Read more…

THE LAST VALLEY. NAPALM FIRE BOMBING LOGGED AREA
At the end of each summer the Victorian logging department sends helicopters to drop napalm onto the forest logged in the previous year. The fires clear the land of unwanted native species and leave an ash bed that favours the regeneration of Eucalyptus trees. Read more…
