This is a sneak peak the documentary film MENTAWAI TATTOO REVIVAL - a collaboration of work between the Jakarta-based tattooist Aman Durga Sipatiti of the DURGA TATTOO and Rahung Nasution from JAVIN (Indonesian freelance video maker and a tattoo freak and enthusiast).

It is the first pilot project documentary film where the team of two went deep inside the Siberut Island and lived with the indigenous people and Sikerei (shamans). The duo researched Mentawai tattoos, and began tattooing together with many Sikereis.

This tattoo documentary film is about the tradition of tattoos and the tattooing culture of the Mentawai tribe in Indonesia, Mentawai Shamanism and the vanishing of "Arat Sabulungan" as the religion of nature for the Mentawai tribe which has been eliminated by the oppression for the sake of the state's assimilation, civilization and politics and recent religions in Indonesia.

Location: Siberut Island in Mentawai Islands.
