West Papua Update: Mako Tabuni's Funeral

Activist Mako Tabuni was buried after police shot and killed him. The funeral was attended by thousands of people, amongst them women and children. They gathered around his body, sang the West Papuan National Anthem and raised the Morning Star Flag.

Mako Tabuni, Secretary General of the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) was shot dead by the special taskforce of the Papua Police (Reskrim Polda Papua) on June 14, 2012 near the Waena taxi pool in Jayapura. He was buried on Saturday, June 16 in the Sereh Cemetary in Sentani, Jayapura.
