Since December 11, 2011, more than 100 activists and villagers from Jambi and Riau camped in front of the Indonesian Parliament in Jakarta. They said the government has allowed private companies evicting villagers for the expansion of their explorations. Many of the campers also stitched their lips in protest. Since February 2009, Aman Durga Sipatiti (a tattoo artist based in Jakarta), has been visiting Matotonan, Sakuddei and Sagulubbek, the interior of Siberut Island, Mentawai. These visits aim to make documentation of titi or Mentawai tattoo that is nearly "vanished" and remaining only in Siberut Island. Read more…
