Wake Up Freak Out

It turns out that the way we have been calculating the future impacts of climate change up to now has been missing a really important piece of the picture. It seems we are now dangerously close to the tipping point in the world's climate system; this is the point of no return, after which truly catastrophic changes become inevitable. Wake Up, Freak Out - then Get a Grip is a short, animated film about climate change by Leo Murray.

Green Gone Wrong

In this day and age, people in Indonesia, particularly Jakarta, are jumping on the "green" trends bandwagon in a quest to save the Earth from the effects of global warming. Unfortunately, many misunderstand the essentials of going green, and take the term too literally - by wearing shirts with environment messages, joining popular environment groups, and basically wearing all kinds of green accessories. And on a higher level, people start buying biofuel products made from palm oils for their vehicles. Whilst biofuel itself is indeed producing significantly less CO2 emissions, the industry continues to sacrifice hectares of forests daily, destroying the very essence of saving the planet.

Dark Sun

Short film by David Nerlich 1998. From deification to demonisation, the changing icon of the life-giving sun in the age of ozone depletion marks a spiritual decay that follows in the wake of the physical decay of our natural atmospheric defences. The advent of an evil sun icon also represents a neurotic abnegation of blame onto the sun for what is really the result of destructive human activity. This 3D animation follows a dreaming monologue, with transient voices and imagery floating and exchanging meaning.

In 2006, the Philippine Government activated the long dead Mining Act to encourage multi-nationals in giving mining industry a big come back in the archipelago. Resulting to a numerous tragedy including landslides, flash floods and many other unimaginable calamities that killed thousands of people and devastated all livelihoods. Despite all this, nobody was held accountable to these horrible tragedies.

Recently (September 26, 2009), a big typhoon struck Metro Manila and flooded the whole metropolis for the first time. And still nobody is accountable to this horrible tragedy.
