Nelayan tradisional di kawasan ini menyebut seluruh alat tangkap ikan dengan sebutan “pekarangan” jenis alat tangkapnya lukah, jaring, ambat, kait (pancing), tajur dan jala. Members of the Meranti Bay communities who formed an action committee called the Kampar Peninsula Rescue Society Forum (FMPSK), recently held a demonstration inside the production area of PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP). Many have been infuriated by RAPP's continued logging in the area, which belongs to the indegenous people of Meranti Bay. Many people in this city would spend their sunny afternoons just sitting down and savouring this sweet cold soup, especially the ones sold along Cut Nyak Dien street, behind the Governor's Office of Riau. Jakarta|Kotahujan.com-Dunia penyiaran sejatinya adalah milik publik, pemanfaatannyapun selayaknya harus mempertimbangkan aspek keberagaman dan menjunjung nilai-nilai demokratis. Penyiaran yang memanfaatkan ruang udara itu dimanfaatkan tetapi tidak untuk dikuasai. Sayangnya pemusatan media siaran di Indonesia justru mencederai prinsip-prinsip tersebut. Kondisi ini mendorong Koalisi Independen untuk Demokratisasi Penyiaran (KIDP) mengajukan Judicial review atas UU No 32 Tahun 2002 tentang Penyiaran. Langkah ini diambil bukan semata-mata sikap antipati terhadap dunia industri penyiaran, tetapi bagian upaya mengembalikan dunia penyiaran ke ranah yang demokratis. Read more…

Ribuan anak muda dengan minat yang sama memilih memadati area ini untuk menghabiskan malam pergantian tahun dengan sajian musik yang bertajuk "BOGOR SADULUR SALEMBUR", Sabtu (31/12) lalu. Tak banyak orang yang menoleh kearah sungai ini kala melintas di atas jembatan ini. Sungai yang mengecil dengan tebaran sampah dipinggir dan tengah aliran, ditambah aneka bangunan yang menghimpit badan sungai, memang bukan pemandangan menarik. Wajar jika orang cenderung memalingkan muka darinya. Padahal jika menilik makna nama Ciparigi pada sungai ini, filosofi kuat terkandung didalamnya. Read more…

Puluhan warga berjoged diiringi lagu yang mengolok-olok polisi yang berjaga di Pengadilan Negeri Palu, Sulawesi Tengah, pada Rabu (04/01/2012), saat sidang kasus AAL, pelajar yang dituduh mencuri sandal jepit. Mahasiswa, aktivis, ibu-ibu hingga anak-anak menyebut polisi sebagai preman dan kurang ajar. Mereka mengungkapkan kekesalan pada aparat polisi yang telah bertindak sewenang-wenang. Aksi joged itu sebagai bentuk protes terhadap kepolisian karena menyeret seorang anak berumur 15 tahun ke pengadilan dengan tuduhan mencuri sandal. This mobile phone footage shows security forces rounding up Congress participants, the gunfire, and the large number of armed plain-clothes officers. The footage also shows the brutal assault on President-elect, Forkorus Yaboisembut, as he was dragged on to a sports field along with other participants.
