Friends of the Earth's Radical Cheerleader Squad took their vision sustainable food and agriculture to the streets of Adelaide as part of the 2008 Adelaide Fringe Festival Opening Night Party. Roving through a crowd of over 40,000 people, the guys and gals shook, shimmied and shouted about the benefits of local, urban food growing and food sovereignty to diners and revellers in Adelaide's East End. Sir John was considered a bridge between the cultures of Maori and non-Maori in New Zealand, and received many honours from the Government including a Knighthood.
