Thousand of Burmese are going to the Indian border area daily, in the hope of finding work and enough money to survive. Some people enter the India border site and work as grocers, and some families have shifted to the border site and work handloom jobs. Most of the goods from Burma enter Mure (border site) to Imphal (the capital city of Manipur, Inida) to other places in india. Border Gate(1) had been banned since the September Revolution in Burma. But Border Gate(2) from which most of the goods from Burma are exported to India, remains open.

Meet Wayne and Li. After the local mine shut down, most of Wayne's friends left home. Li Jieli left home too to work in a factory. Her family counts on her weekly paychecks. Wayne found a way to stay employed by learning a new profession. Li found a way to support her family but had to leave home. Both have made sacrifices.
Back in 1997 Howard’s 1st step on the road to “Work Choices” was to support Patrick Corporation in its attempt to remove unions representation from Australia’s wharves. That action supported by the Australian Farmers Federation included the training of para-military mercenaries to forcefully take the jobs of unionists. Eventually the actions where defeated by the union in court.

Prior to the last election Howard’s team revisited the issue creating an ad with a unique view on history.
