Video Blog: What is the problem with AI governance today?

Following our three-part series on current and alternative ethical frameworks for artificial intelligence (AI), EngageMedia will be releasing three video blogs that will expound on key questions we’ve encountered in our research on AI and its implications for civil society in Southeast Asia.

Our first video blog features IT for Change Deputy Director Nandini Chami, who answers two pressing questions on AI governance:

  1. What is the problem with AI governance today?
  2. How should developing countries address this issue when evolving AI strategies and roadmaps?

The video blogs is part of EngageMedia’s research project that aims to raise the awareness of civil society in Southeast Asia on AI’s human rights and democratic implications. Watch the second video blog with independent researcher Jun-E Tan here.

For further reading, you can also refer to the 2019 research paper, “The Wicked Problem of AI Governance“, authored by Chami and IT for Change Executive Director Anita Gurumurthy.
