EngageMedia, in partnership with the Video4Change Network, is excited to announce an update to the Video for Change Impact Toolkit that will help filmmakers and video producers design powerful outreach, distribution, and engagement activities.
The Impact Campaign Builder (ICB) is a tool that helps video practitioners identify opportunities for creating impact and setting realistic impact goals. The ICB provides a step-by-step guide to help practitioners think about what their film project is trying to change by listing down the communities, individuals, or groups that will be affected. With the help of the ICB, practitioners can maximise opportunities for affected communities to engage and participate in the project.
The ICB has already been used by video practitioners to design and evaluate social impact, including the impact production team of the film Mountain of Trash (Thailand) and participants of the Venice Summer School organised by Picture People. The tool has also been successfully introduced for use in Myanmar-based film activities during workshops.
How to use the Impact Campaign Builder
The ICB is designed to be easy to use, so video practitioners can start designing impact campaigns right away by answering the guide questions. Each question comes with sample answers and additional references that lead to the Impact Toolkit, which provides a more comprehensive explanation of the Video for Change approach.
The best way to use the ICB is to be as specific as possible in answering each question. We recommend going through the tool with your team and those closely involved in the film project.
Using the ICB helps you sharpen your ideas and clarify your motivations for making the film. Designing impact campaigns may seem overwhelming at the onset, but by detailing the specific social changes you want to create, achieving your impact goals is within reach.
