EngageMedia is opening registrations for the Internet Monitoring Action Program (iMAP) Local Partner Workshop in the Philippines, which aims to build the capacity of digital rights advocates and enable them to strengthen ongoing efforts on internet censorship monitoring and reporting.
The workshop will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 10:30AM to 3:30PM Manila time. Interested individuals from the sectors of digital rights, journalism, law, academia, and government are invited to register online to participate in the workshop.
During the workshop, participants will be introduced to the Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI) Probe and how it can be used to measure internet censorship and other forms of network interference. There will also be a roundtable discussion for participants to share insights on recent cases of internet censorship in the region and how they can work towards strengthening protections for freedom of expression.
The workshop is part of EngageMedia’s work for the Internet Monitoring Program (iMAP), a three-year collaboration among civil society organisations in the Asia-Pacific advocating for freedom of expression on the internet. EngageMedia is coordinating internet censorship measurements from OONI, research analysis, and engagement with local digital rights advocates in Indonesia and the Philippines.
