Commercial tin mining on Bangka is carried out by the state owned PT Timah company. And the story of a private smelter, one of the many who PT Timah wants to shut down.
This documentation (no commentary) shows two versions of commercial offshore tin mining on Bangka (Kapal Truk and Kapal Isap) done by the state owned PT Timah company at sea around Bangka island. Many of them are owned by companies from Thailand, but they are working for PT Timah.
And this documentation also shows one private smelter, one of the many who until now exist on Bangka. But in a current campaign of a month long police razzia, PT Timah wants to shut all of them down, so that PT Timah can be the only tin smelter in the future. Most of the tin exported worldwide comes from Bangka island in Indonesia, and it is needed to make solder for all electronics.
