Altermidya (People’s Alternative Media Network) is a network of independent and progressive media outfits, institutions and individuals.
Altermidya was founded at the 1st National Conference of Alternative Media, held at the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication, Diliman from October 9 to 10, 2014. With the theme “Bagong Panahon, Bagong Hamon: Palakasin ang Tinig ng Mamamayan,” the conference led to the formation of the first-ever national network of alternative media practitioners in the Philippines.
Member alternative media outfits and individuals are from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, and include print, broadcast and online media.
Luis V. Teodoro, former UP CMC Dean, is the chairperson of Altermidya, while Benjie Oliveros, editor of Bulatlat.com, is the national coordinator.
