EngageMedia has hosted two regional Southeast Asia video skills and networking events, bringing together activists from Southern Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, East Timor and West Papua.
EngageMedia held a regional video distribution camp with 43 video activists from June 16 to June 20, 2010. Participants came from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Timor Leste. The camp was held in the Baung area, near Malang, East Java, Indonesia. It allowed various cultural groups and individuals to discuss, share expertise, and collaborate around digital video distribution.
The programs included the latest project presentations, distribution campaigns and strategies, compression workshops and uploading videos, discussions on independent distribution and licensing, video screening, and festivals to make chilli sauce.
Working in partnership with KOMAS, EngageMedia hosted a video distribution, security and public engagement camp for activists from Indonesia, Malaysia, Southern Philippines, Southern Thailand, Singapore and East Timor from February 19 to 24, 2012.
The camp was held in Port Dickson, Malaysia, and brought together key cultural groups and individuals to discuss, share skills and collaborate around digital video distribution, freedom of expression, campaigning, secure use of video and public engagement.
